Pope has strong wish to visit Serbia
Belgrade, Jan. 29, 2010 (Serbia Today) – As daily Blic reports the jubilee in the City of Nis in 2013 marking the freedom to Christianity, is an appropriate occasion for the meeting between leaders of the Orthodox and Catholic world. In Vatican’s Office for media in Belgrade’s Archdiocese reporters were told that ‘there is positive mood that the Pope Benedict visits Serbia’. Father Federico Lombardi, Director of the Office says that the statement by the Patriarch Irinej that the time has come for the meeting with the Pope Benedict XVI is very encouraging. ‘This is a sign that the dialog that began at the time of Patriarch Pavle will be continued with the new Patriarch. It would be nice if he would make a step further in order that we meet and see the possibilities for cooperation’, Lombardi says.
